Have
you ever been to Gili Trawangan before 2009? I really miss the moment at Gili
Trawangan on that era. If you want to feel Gili Trawangan’s atmosphere
before 2010, then you should go to Gili Air. I have an opportunity to visit
Gili Air in early 2015.
It felt so peaceful when the first time I arrived on the Island. Most of the road
are covered by sands and like the other Gilis, the transportation that using
engines are not allowed here. I decided to rent a bike to go around the island,
and it took less than an hour. Still many unique hotels and villas with
affordable price on the island, even a cheap hostel has a beachfront view.
The
island is still natural, so I just went to the front of my hotel to go snorkeling. I also have an experienced to scuba diving in Gili Air. The water was
clear, and I saw many fishes and beautiful corals under the Gili Air sea. At
the evening, we could take a break for a while to enjoy the sunset at the local
cafĂ© or bar. The sunset at Gili was perfect as always. Don’t forget also to buy
an ice cream to complete your sunny day at the island. And if you still have
more energy, you should rent a transparent canoe to see the corals from above.
Nightlife
at Gili Air is not as wild as Gili Trawangan, but every Gili has its own way to
make you happy! You still can enjoy your night by having a barbeque dinner at the
beach or trying the local street food such as seafood satay. The party at
Gili Air also pretty cool, but don’t compare it with Gili Trawangan, because people often
choose Gili Air to have a romantic dinner on the beachside.
Gili
Air is a chill island with less of people. The island also perfect for a family
getaway because their easy accessibility. Good environment to relax and enjoy
the island life. So, Gili Air is a good option to stay and worth to visit if you
go to Lombok!
